Material cones under the discharge, the peak reaches the trailer’s height limit while the ends sit empty, and someone either moves the truck repeatedly, sends a loader operator to knock the pile down, or accepts the short load. Repositioning trucks under a discharge is slow, operator-dependent, and a pinch-point safety concern; letting loads leave short is simply money.
